The International Piano Talents Competition 2024, taking place from June 13 to 16 in Milan, promises to be an extraordinary event in the world of classical music. This year’s competition, held under the esteemed patronage of the Municipality of Milan, features three sections: Kids, Young, and Senior, divided into seven categories, offering a comprehensive platform for young pianists to showcase their talent.

Structure and Venues: The competition begins with an online pre-selection, followed by in-person tests. The ABC Categories will perform on June 15 in the splendid Salone d’onore of Casa Verdi, while the DEFG Categories will showcase their skills on June 13 and 14 at the Griffa Laboratory. The Final, set for June 16 in the Hall of Honor of Casa Verdi, will feature the absolute First Prize winners from each category, culminating in the awarding of the Super Prizes.

Jury and Prizes: This year’s event is distinguished by an international jury coordinated by Carlos Cebro, the founder and president of the renowned Maria Canals Piano Competition in Barcelona. Additionally, a Technical Jury under 21 will award a special prize of €1,000 to the best performer among the Kids and Young sections. The best overall performer in the Senior section will have the incredible opportunity to embark on a three-concert tour.

Special prizes this year include invitations to the 2024-25 concert seasons of the Società dei Concerti di Milano, under the guidance of its President Enrica Ciccarelli, and the International Competition Cesar Franck of Brussels, led by Philippe Raskin. These invitations are extended to one of the absolute First Prize winners, providing a significant boost to their burgeoning careers.

Performance Highlights: Participants admitted to the in-person tests will have the privilege of performing on a prestigious Steinway grand piano at the Griffa Pianos Laboratory, ensuring that their talents are showcased on the best possible instrument.

The competition concludes with a highly anticipated Gala concert on June 16, where the winners of the Super Prizes will be announced. This event not only celebrates the winners but also highlights the exceptional talent and hard work of all participants.
