Pianist Cristiana Achim, founder of Piano Travel, has recently been awarded First Prize with Honours at the USA Modern & Contemporary International Competition. The competition, part of the International Youth Music Competitions (IYMC), highlights excellence in modern and contemporary piano repertoire.
Cristiana’s compelling interpretation of “El Salón México” written by American composer Aaron Copland, captivated the jury with its vivid colors, rhythmic vitality, and technical brilliance. Her performance was noted for its imaginative artistry and clear musical storytelling.
The IYMC organises monthly online competitions open to musicians worldwide for many musical styles. Competitors of all ages and levels submit performances online, receive detailed feedback from an expert jury, and earn the chance to perform in person at the prestigious Annual Prize Winners’ Recital in New York City.
This year’s Prize Winners’ Recitals will be held on August 30 and 31 at the esteemed DiMenna Center for Classical Music, located in the cultural heart of Manhattan. Cristiana Achim will perform on August 31 at 6pm, joining a remarkable lineup of laureates from all monthly competitions. This gala promises to be a vibrant celebration of emerging talent and contemporary repertoire.
