The competition was initiated in 1997, when the city of Gdańsk celebrated its 1000th anniversary, on the day that was exactly 100 years after Johannes Brahms’ death. The works of the composer present timeless artistic value and are among the most important in all of the chamber literature.
Chamber ensembles

Prizes:
1st prize: EUR 10,000 for the ensemble
2nd prize: EUR 4,000 for the ensemble
3rd prize: EUR 2,000 for the ensemble
3 distinctions: EUR 500 for each ensemble
