The Giorgos Thymis International Piano Competition 2025 has once again proven why it stands among the world’s most distinguished platforms for emerging pianists. From January 23rd to 31st, the vibrant city of Thessaloniki became a sanctuary of artistic excellence, where the world’s most promising talents gathered to display their mastery and passion for the piano.

A Celebration of Talent and Dedication

This year’s competition was nothing short of breathtaking, with participants hailing from various corners of the globe, each bringing their unique interpretations and unparalleled technical skills. From the preliminary rounds to the grand finale, audiences were captivated by the sheer artistry displayed on stage. The atmosphere was electric as the winners were announced: 🎹 1st Prize & Audience Award: Miloš Grnčaroski – A pianist of rare depth and finesse, whose interpretation left the audience and jury in awe. 🎹 2nd Prize: Ivan Shemchuk – His powerful yet poetic approach to the piano resonated with all who witnessed his performance. 🎹 3rd Prize: Dominic Degavino – A true artist whose refined technique and expressive phrasing stood out. 🎹 Best Greek Competitor Award: Filivos Gkatzios – For the second year in a row, he enchanted audiences with his musical sensitivity and technical brilliance.

A Launchpad for Future Stars

Beyond the accolades, the true reward of this competition lies in the opportunities it offers its laureates. With prizes including performances with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, solo recitals in prestigious venues across Greece, and a total prize fund of 12,500 EUR, this competition is a springboard for aspiring pianists, propelling them towards international recognition.
